Hello
Prob not the right place to ask but can any point me to a newsgroup on VOIP
?

Q is trying to run a voip phone behind a firewall and i am having trouble
finding which ports to open

Simon

What type of VoIP phone are you trying to use? Is it with some sort
of remote server or a stand alone phone?
Do you know what protocol it uses? I would bet H.323 but double
checking here.

John

I have 2 Welltech LanPhones H323 is the protocol but the info in the manual
says nothing about firewall settings.

I have found some reference on the web but nothing definitive.
The phones are in P2P mode no gatekeeper.

Actually this isn't John just a computer of his.
Hmmm... I haven't heard of these phones, but what you may want to try
is to open up port TCP/IP 1720 as I do know this in on H.323. As for if it
uses other ports I can not say... the best thing here is to try setting the
phones on a DMZ setting in your router. If you do that then all ports will
be forwarded to it and a DMZ should bypass your firewall settings.
