While reading the MS Security newsgroup, I read the following post:
Tx JW, but I have learnt from experience that if you do not disable XP
firewall, there is no audio connection.
Is it true, that nobody can get voice to work, using XP's built-in firewall
and Windows Messenger ? Is it true that, the only way to get voice to work
with Windows Messenger is by shutting down XP's built-in firewall ? If
somebody somehow got this to work, what magic did you perform to get this to
work, without shutting down XP's built-in firewall ? I have never gotten
voice to work with Windows Messenger and XP's firewall, and gave up trying
long ago. ( I am not using a router. I set up the mic and speakers using
the Wizard. I am not willing to shut down my firewall, and fling open my
system to every infection on the world wild web.)
I also noticed that 3 different people posted the same problem on July 9,
July 10, and July 11, and nobody following this newsgroup was able to come
up with any substantive response (something more than sarcasm). Is this a
problem that has all the experts stumped ?
