We would like to develop training and educational products using PowerPoint and are looking for a good audio/video plug-in to assist in the process.

Any suggestions?

I'm not sure if you mean voice recognition or voice synthesis. Do you want
the PowerPoint presentation to speak or to listen?

Also of critical importance, what version of PowerPoint do you have
installed, which Operating system or version of Windows are you running, and
how fast is your CPU speed?

To speak. We would like to give it text and have it read it.

I have PowerPoint 2000 on WinXP with over 2Ghz of processor. I can upgrade PowerPoint if needed...

There are a couple of ways to do this. The simplist is to export all the
text in the Powerpoint presentation to a text file and have any text reader
read that.

I would also recommend doing a google seach for TTS (Text-To-Speech) and
select a simple one. You can alternately use the TTS built into Windows XP
(adequate is the word that comes to mind), or even the MS Agent add-ins
(which will have animated charators read the text -- warning though, this is
not simple).

One of our gifted MVP's is very knowledgable in all things about user
accessability (like we all should be) and I know she'll be along to help us
with some actual program recommendations.

Or convert the presentation to HTML. If done reasonably well, and if the
presentation's set up for it in the first place, you can end up with a single
presentation that's visually attractive but still screen-reader friendly.
