Have vni cnf files all over the place and finally would
like to clear out the clutter, but don't know their use
system-wise. Do I need them- seems like they kind of
have .ini file and shortcut attributes.

Do not delete those files, those files are what FP uses to manage your web
site. If you notice, you do not see them from within FP, they are hidden for
a reason.

Won't delete (glad I held back trigger finger). Why are
they visible in files throughout the Win (XP) OS and w/
some project files ? They are in places that,o n the
surface, seem to be unrelated. Have folder options set
for syst files and hidden files not to show. Is it
necessary to go to properties and specify hidden for ea
file individually ? Trying to figure out if another app
is in conflict or if I made an adjustment w/ a tweaking
prog that had an adverse effect. Not the end of the
world, but doesn't seem 2 be normal OP.

They will appear in any folder that you have opened in FP. You should always
have you web and it contents under a single folder, within that folder you
can have subfolder and/or subwebs.

The folder/file are not hidden in the OS. When working with your webs in FP,
you should never see them. Do not modify the permissions or attributes of
these folders/files.
