I've tried RealVNC (Free), TightVNC and Ultr@VNC but they all seem to be
based off the same source, so not much difference in terms of functionality
or UI. Except that TightVNC doesn't launch a separate window for the Java
viewer, but that's neither here nor there for me.

What I'd really consider a strong step up is consideration for two things:

1. Catching the Tab key in Applets so that the user can send Tab over the
Java viewer.

2. At least some basic security/encryption scheme to prevent sniffers from
spying on your traffic.

It seems like RealVNC is the only one to offer the latter, but only in their
paid versions. Can anyone recommend a better package than these? And as an
aside, is there a better newsgroup for asking this question?

I use RAdmin, it is also a paid one though.
