Craig

I'm using Excel XP. Is there any way to get around having
to have your range sorted in ascending order for the
vlookup function to work properly (that is, if you're
trying to look up an approximate value)??

Is there an alternative lookup function or code available
that doesn't require the ascending order??

Thanks for all help.

Hi Craig,

You can use INDEX and MATCH. MATCH allows you to specify ascending, not
sorted or descending.

But not sorted is always exact, and sorted is always approximate.

Its relatively easy (and very fast) to do exact sorted but approximate
unsorted is difficult.
