I exported a table from Access to Excel. When I do a
vlookup on the table, I get the #NA#. If I retype the
index column's cell entry in the lookup table, the result
of the formula changes to the correct result. I have
changed the format of both the lookup column and the index
column of the table, with no result. Why does this happen
and how do i fix it?

When your data comes from another application, it often ends up as text.
What look like numbers are not numbers but text strings. (You can see this
by turning off any alignment and widening the columns - text will be
left-aligned whereas true numbers would be right-aligned.) Changing the cell
format (to general or number) is only the first stage of what you need to
do. Having done this, copy a blank cell (formatted as general or number, NOT
text). Select the columns and use
Edit > Paste Special > Add > OK

I'm having the same problem. I don't see any help
offered here, did you find an answer anywhere else?

Thanks!

The format of your lookup value doesn't match the format of your list.
