Hi,

Is it possible to use Visual Studio .net to create applications that would run on Windows 3.1, 95, 98 and XP? I need to write a small program that fits completely on a CD and does not need installation.

Thanks,

Art

..NET apps (whether VS.NET or .NET SDK is used) do not run on Win 3.1 & 95,
but Win NT 4.0 (with SP6a), Win 98/ME/2000/XP/2003.

So there's no way to install some add-on or something that will allow you to complie applications for an older platform????

AFAIK, No.

Perhaps your application is so good, it will encourage your users who are
still using Windows 95 and 3.1 to upgrade!

Heck, if all the other tools that have come out in the last ten years aren't
enough to encourage an upgrade, there's not much you can do to get the
dinosaurs. That said, if someone's afraid to upgrade, they probably are not
adding hardware or much software either. They haven't spent money on
anything (their PC is probably not worth more than $25). These folks are
not your target market.

Good luck,
--- Nick
