Visual Studio .NET 2003 on Windows 2000 with SP 4

Hi,

Can I install Visual Studio .NET 2003 on Windows 2000 with
Service Pack 4 machine?
Or
Will I have to upgrade to a newer version of the MS
Windows operating system.
Please provide the information.

Visual Studio .NET 2003 installs and works fine with Windows 2000 SP4.
That's what we use in our labs and classrooms.

Here's another question:

I just installed the VS.NET 2003 'Upgrade'

When I clicked on my VS.NET icon it launched VS.NET 2002.

Then I noticed that there is an additional program group for VS.NET 2003.

So, it appears that the upgrade actually installs a completely new VS.NET.

Does that mean that I still need VS.NET 2002 for 'legacy' .NET 2002
applications?

Or can I go ahead and delete VS.NET 2002.

Right now I have THREE VS's on my workstation: VS6, VS.NET 2002 and VS.NET
2003 !!!!

VS.net 2003 will work fine on Win2k.

So do I. Isn't it great? Quite a feat, having three different generations
coexisting with no problems :-).
I had a PC at home with both 2002 and 2003 on it. I was able to uninstall
2002 with no ill effects on 2003. Caveat: my 2003 install was *not* from an
upgrade.
You should have no real need for 2002 for legacy apps, as 2003 will offer to
auto-convert them to 2003 format when you load them (the solutions) in 2003.
To be completely safe, I'd probably convert copies of those legacy solutions
to be sure all is OK before uninstalling 2002.
