You can not run VS2003 on Vista, but you can run applications you have
developed with VS2003 on Vista. Also, many people use VS2003 with XP. Not
everybody is going to run right out and get Vista and install it.

¤ I was searching on Microsoft's site and found this link:
¤
¤ http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/search/?sort=PN&alpha=Visual+Studio
¤
¤ It stumpped me on something.
¤ ( im new to visual studio / vb.express ) but....
¤ I was under the impression from the posts on this newsgroup that Vista does
¤ not support Visual Studio 2003 ?
¤ If this is correct, why does this show that vs2003 is supported till 2009?

Because it's still supported on Windows XP.

Robin;

you're full of crap

you can't use VB 2003 apps on Vista; the only thing that you CAN use
is VB6

RobinS is a 'dotnet lsebian' don't listen to that bitch

Paul;

just because you're a mother ****ing sellout; it doesn't mean that MS
is acting respectfully.

MS kills VB every 18 months and you're a ****ing poster boy for a
company that sold us all out a long time ago.

STFU and go spread your crap elsewhere

MS just has a new 'programming language of the month'

instead of MOTHER ****ING FIXING VB-- they're conning us into LINQ and
XML and X# and F# and all this other ****ing crap

I reccomend that IBM buys Borland and starts taking BASIC seriously
again

Ahh ok... that was what I was wondering... the "running" of the progs.

I was really just searching to see "if" there will be just service packs for
2005 for a bit or suddenly they will come out with something like a VS2008.

Im just budgeting everything out and plan to buy the vs2005pro by years end.
But I would rather wait it out and reschedule some things if there is a
planned version in the near future. Im too new at this to take a couple 1k
hits in a row.

Thanks,

M.

you should just buy Dreamweaver; and write PHP / MySql

you can spend $300 and be a bigger, better faster web developer.. with
a free web server and database engine.

How can MS compete with this?

THEY DONT

Well, Orcas (the next version of VS) just came out in CTP. I don't know
when it's scheduled to be released as the real deal, but certainly by the
end of the year, there will be a new version of Visual Studio.
