Situation
I currently have terminal server setup for students to access on campus in
order to experiment with VS.NET and other MS products. Each student has their
own folder under, D:\External Resources\wwwroot - dev, which is configured as
an application, executes as them and has their user setup as the FPSE
administrator.

When a user tries to create a new WebApplication under
http://localhost/<username>/<ApplicationName> they receive an error about the
file share path not mapping appropriately the web location. The are given the
following location:
D:\External Resources\wwwroot - default\<username>\<ApplicationName>

This is obviously not the correct root path of the Dev Web Site. If the user
changes this to \\localhost\wwwroot$\<username>\<ApplicationName> or to
D:\External Resources\wwwroot - dev\<username>\<ApplicationName> it works
perfectly fine, as it should.

My question is why does it pull the wrong file share path and how is the
information determined?

Other Info
If I delete the Default Web Site, restart IIS and try to create a new web
application it pulls the directory just fine.

If I delete the Default Web Site, restart IIS, reinstall Default Web Site
(from file) and try to create a new web application it pulls the directory
just fine.

If I delete the Default Web Site, restart IIS, reinstall Default Web Site
(from file) , restart IIS or the machine reboots I am back at square one.

Hoi Maino,

I have exactly the same problem. Did you find a solution?

Kind regards,

Michel

I have yet to find a solution to this problem, though I have just join the MS
team and my role may give me the opportunity to point out such an issue.
