I set the visual effects to "show contents while
dragging", but each time I turn off the computer this
setting is lost, and I have to reset it every time I turn
the computer back on. Can this setting be made permanent
so I won't have to reset it every time the computer is
turned on? Thanks.

Workaround: D/l this utility by David, and place it in the Startup folder. It enables the "Show windows contents while dragging" on every restart. Get the utility from this Newsgroup post:

Thanks to all who replied. I worked with Dell Support,
and their suggestion was to delete Dell Media
Experience. Done. No more problems. I asked what I
would be losing by deleting it, and the answer
was "nothing". Go figure.
