Visual C++ 2005 Redistribute Package

I'm trying to install the newest WinDVD 8 Platinum edition and when I get
this error message " The installation of Microsofts Visual C++ 2005
Redistribute Package (86) has failed. I'm using Windows XP Home edition w.
SP2. Can anyone help me find the information to fix this? Many thanx in
advance....Chet

You could contact the software company that makes windvd 8 and ask them why
their software is failing to properly install.

As far as the visual C++ not installing properly, perhaps you can try
installing the redistributable package seperately before installing windvd
and see if that works.

or, the newer version of the file although the older version may work fine:
