Hi, when I shutdown or re-start my WindowsXp Pro system,
a message box appears on the screen that reads "Microsoft
Visual Basic - The macros in this project are disabled.
Please refer to the online help or documentation of the
host application to determine how to enable macros". I
have no idea what this is and / or what it means and
would appreciate H-E--L---P. Thanks, Bob

Hello Bob

See if you have a shortcut to an MS file in
Start >Programs>Startup
If so you can delete it.

Thank you David and Yellowpike, my StartUp folder
contains WinFaxPro 10.02, OfficeXp Toolbar, Outlook,
PopUp defender 6.01 and SAproxey. Would any of these
possibly be the culprit? Thank you, Bob

Outllook is a Office App, but I don't use it and am only familar with 97/98 versions which couldn't cause this (but could now I think).

I don't use any of your programs, but I have this thought that WinFax Pro may be to blame. Programs like WinFax (what wrong with the builtin to XP fax) a/ a limited version came with some versions of office and b/ often include addins to MS Word that generate this message when Word is started.

Get the message up and press Ctrl + Alt + Delete and look on the Process Tab for Office apps.

In Word go Tools - Macros - Security to set the security, untill you find why I don't suggest you lower it. Macro Viruses (eg nasty addins rather than helpful addins) will also generate this message, but these aren't common these days.

Accounting software also load addins to Word. But these the message comes when Word is started. Outloook has an option to use Word as the email editor, disable it and see if it helps. In Word you can go Tools - Templates And Addins and see most of the ones that word is refusing to load (cos of security).

If you could close all those programs and start them manually you'll see which one is causing it.

Mr. Dave gave you solid stuff.

Dave: yeah, Outlook can include macros.

Happy Holidays Gentlemen
