Visual Basic 6.0 to VB.Net

I currently have VB6.0 and am looking to upgrade to
VB.Net. My problem is I have the professional version and
I cannot find where I can get the VB.Net professional
upgrade without purchasing the entire Studio.Net package.
I have no need of the packages in the Studio with the
exception of the VB.Net. Does anybody know how to just
purchase the VB.Net professional upgrade?

best buy and comp usa sell them...check their web sites to see if you can
get them on-line.

i dont think there is an upgrade path just for VB. You have to upgrade to VS.NET
 
There is no such thing. Visual Basic .NET only comes in standard, which is a
very bad name. I wish they would have kept learning edition. It will do fine
for most simple software, but the lack of a library project makes it very
limited.

While you may not think you need the entire studio, the Windows API is
essentially opened up in .NET, which means there is less separation from
Visual Basic and .NET than you might think. There should be an upgrade path
to VS.NET from Visual Basic. The tools added are enough to make it more than
worth your time, if you explore them.

No, there is no VB.NET Professional. You will have to update to VS.NET Professional.

If you plan to upgrade I would suggest that you get a subscription to
MSDN instead. In addition to getting a copy of Studio .NET, you also
get ALL of Microsoft's development software (SQL Server, Visio, Visual
Basic 6, ect) as well as every Microsoft Operating System out there
and a ton of other Microsoft software (Office Pro 2003, Frontpage,
ect) + access to all their online resources. For me it was actually
cheaper than upgrading.

Go to nexttag.com and search for "MSDN Universal Subscription". The
universal comes with everything as well as Visual Studio .NET
Enterprise Architect 2003 instead of Professional. You can also get
the Professional subscription but it doesn't come with nearly as much.
There is currently a $300 rebate as well. It's an incredible deal.
