1. Curried dish that pops up a UAC dlg that says "Are you sure you want it
this hot?"

2. Last great battle of the OS wars.

3. Pop song by group AbbaDabbaDoo - "Vistaloo, when you gonna make it to
RTM?"

Great stuff.. I will add these all to the list...

Seems like vista is going be delayed even more.. but its better I think that
to
send out vista with too many problems. MS would be ridiculed, and many would
not have the patience to handle the problems. They would skip OS's and
probably
a lot of people would start using MacOSX. A friend of mine did this already.

Perhaps the next os will be better...(vienna?) they have said that they wont
have so much time between releases again.

Hmmm...your friend runs MacOSx on a PC? How strange.

People have been able to hack mac osx to run on a pc... but I am not talking
abou that...

No, he was going to get a new computer anyway.. so he chose a MAC instead of
a pc.
If he needs win applications the new macs can dual boot, and virtual
machines work faster
since they have intel chips...

The Brits will appreciate this and the Americans will wonder what is odd
about it.

I was in Florida in 98 for several months and really wanted a decent
curry. I asked lots of people if they knew of an Indian restaurant and
was finally told of one. So I drove out in anticipation... It had Indian
type arches around the windows and doors.. it had Indian looking people
as waiters. I thought this was promising. I ordered a meat vindaloo and
suddenly realised I was in America when the waiter said, "Would you like
that mild, medium or hot sir?"

You're lucky they did not ask you how you wanted the eggs done. My
Brother ordered a Prawn Cocktail in NYC and got a glass of prawns with
tomato ketchup all over them.

There's a list?

And... I agree with delaying the release. Too many little niggly things
going on on my seat. Like I've read elsewhere, I was an "official" beta
tester of 95 and 2K (meaning I got paid by the company for which I worked at
the time to test the OS's) and they were both in better shape at the same
relative point than Vista. Yeah, I know 2K had some (?) problems when
released and SP1 was quickly followed by SP2 because it created more
problems than existed in the RTM code.

We might modify #2 below to:

Vistaloo - Jim Allchin's last battle as Windows Emperor.

Thanks,

I lived in NYC in another age... and there were a number of good Indian
restaurants on 6th St. in the East Village...

The one time I visited Europe, 25 years ago... another age.. when I was in
London for about a week, the only decent food I had was Indian.

Didn't you like our National Dish - Fish n Chips?

Been superceded now by Kebabs - meat, lambish of very dubious origin
spit grilled and served in a bread envelope with salad and crap.
Delicious after 12 pints of lager with Bicardi chasers. And of course
the Indian Vindaloo which I am convinced was originally a joke played
on gullible Englishmen in India during the Raj.

We did make one stop at a Fish and Chips shop. Seemed like 8 ounces of
"food" drenched in 8 ounces of oil. Wrapped in newsprint. Uh, no thanks.
Much prefered French and German food.

Now... the pubs were another matter entirely. Quickly learned that if one
ordered a pint, then ordered half pints, they filled up the glass beyond the
half pint mark. Absolutely loved Fuller's ESB. The English Pubs were
definetly the high point of the trip, although a couple of Parisian bistros
followed closely behind.

lol ... nice.

I was married to a nepali woman (for those who are from kentucky, that's "a
woman from Nepal" to you) and she made some of the best indian (no we aren't
talking about Apaches here) food. You have to know some of the immegrants
to know where the REAL indian restarants are. And yes, especially in
Florida will you have the choice of mild or hot, due to the fact that that
is where all the old folks go to retire.

My nepali ex-wife told me to mention, just for the record, that vindaloo
isn't a natively indian food. It was brought from Spain or italy or some
such to southern india.
