i have a frustrating question to ask! omg! my pc memory dumps on me at least
3 times a day (twce in the last hour!!) ive been told its mostly likely my
soundcard that isnt much liked... is there something i can tune to stop this
from happening? the company who built the pc went into liquidation without
prior warning and ive had nothing but problems with it since 1 of which is my
nvidiaGEForce8800GT burning out and dying after only 10 months of use! if
anyone has any advice that doesnt involve "buying a new soundcard" that would
be much appreciated!

Hi,

If you think it's your soundcard and you don't want to be told to replace
your soundcard, what exactly are you hoping to be told?

For the most part, components are throwaways now, you don't repair them. If
the card is incompatible, then nothing you do outside of replacing it is
going to help. If it's damaged, it's not going to get better. You might try
reseating it in its slot if it's an add-on card. If not, disable it in the
system BIOS.

If it is compatible with Vista, then you should be checking with the sound
card manufacturer (not the system maker or microsoft) for the most recent
driver release to support it.

Have you had anyone analyze the memory dumps yet?

the sb fatality card is very expensive and only a year old... ive been told
its something to expect to happen however i was hoping there was something
that i could do to make it less frquent or if there was a setting out of
touch or something along those lines? ive not had anyone analyse anything and
it happens so quickly and unexpectantly that not even i get to read what the
issue is

Take the card completely out and run with no sound for a couple of
days and see if it helps.
