Dr. Heywood Floyd

I have two drives on this computer.
Drive 1 is partitioned into "C" and "D"
Drive 2 is used to store my image backup of my primary drive

Partition "C" is my primary with my 'working' XP Pro OS
Partition "D" is also XP Pro that I use for testing, etc.

Will I be able to install a 'clean' iteration of Vista on my "D" drive
and have the boot.ini allow me to choose it or my XP Pro ("C")?

Thanks

DHF

Hi,

Yes, but it won't be boot.ini, it will be the Vista bootloader (Vista does
not use boot.ini) instead.

Like he said. It is called BCD (Boot Configuration Data") it will be your
boot manager
and if you boot from it to XP it will hand the task to boot.ini
"VistaBootPRO" is A nice
GUI for it (bcdedit.exe)

So - If Dr. Floyd has XP on his "C" drive (partition 1) and Vista on his
"D" drive (partition 2) he *will* be able to choose when he boots?
