Vista won't log off

About 90% of the time I try to log off a username in Vista, it displays the
fancy logging off screen for a second, then it displays my desktop background
(nothing else) and sits there...

I have to manually shut off the computer after that.

Any idea what might be causing this? I can do everything else just fine
(switch users, restart, shut down, etc).

Thanks in advance if anyone knows which process might be stalling this!

Start the Task Manager and kill off every (or near every) process
running as your user and then try to log off after that. If that
succeeds there's some process running as user that won't die. If not it
might be some service that's faulty.

You can use Windows Defender to see applications/services running, try
disabling all non Microsoft and try again. If that woks try enabling the
others one and one until you find the one not working.
