I get all the way up to set up TV in WMC, where you see a picture and sound.
but when i hit next it always says IR Reciever not found, I even got the ATI
Remote plus to work but I keep getting IR reciever not detected...

Here is a link where IR remote issues were discussed. It appears that you
need a WMC or compatible remote, but take a look:

It's a USB plugin IR Receiver?

Try unplugging, then plug back in... I've read of this solution in another
forum, granted, for a different product, but it might work anyway...

If it is an MC compatible IR receiver it will also have connections for 2
"IR blasters" and at least one of these needs to be plugged in so it can be
hung in front of the IR receiver on your STB and change the channels on your
STB.
