take a look at: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/813514

Do you use McAfee or Norton antivirus? If so, uninstall them,
reboot and test your mail again.
Once you get your mail working again, install a less intrusive
antivirus such as the free Avast. Be sure to turn of any antivirus
mail scanning.

Hi, Lee.

I get that message often in WLM - and in WM, as I recall. My suspicion is
that my ISP has set its "dormant time-out" flag too restrictively.

I'm using an "always on" cable modem, so I could, theoretically at least, be
online 24/7, even if I never send any message at all. My ISP sees that as
wasted bandwidth which could be sold to another subscriber. So, if there
has been no traffic for several minutes, the ISP drops my connection. Maybe
the time-out is set to 60 minutes, or maybe they've set it to 5 minutes.

I could complain to my ISP, but re-connection is instantaneous, so the
pop-up message from Vista is more irritating than the actual disconnection.

Let's suggest to the WLM team that they stop showing that irritating pop-up.
Or, at least, make it a small information button, not a show-stopper that
requires an "OK" to dismiss it.

Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML
files from the scan. It provides no
protection not provided by the regular resident protection.
Beside that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail.
