Vista VPN

I see a lot of discussion about how VPN doesn't work with Vista. I'm having
the same problem. One thing I was said something about changing Vista to
use MS-CHAP 1, instead of MS-CHAP 2. I can't find where/how to do this. Is
it possible? If so, how do I do this? My company has no immediate plans to
upgrade our firewall to support MS-CHAP 2.

Thanks, Andre

Go to properties of your VPN connection
Click on the Security Tab
Select Advanced (Custom Settings)
Click on Settings
Under Allow these protocols you can un-check MS-CHAP-2 and check CHAP

BTW, what type of VPN are you connecting to?
Is it just MS-PPTP?

Anyway, hope this helps,

OKuma

I tried that on 2 of my Vista boxes - 1 64 bit ent, 1 32 bit home - and it
didn't work. Just like all the other posts I've read here say...I can
connect all day long from XP or Win 2003, but not Vista.

I'm trying to connect to a MS-PPTP VPN. I'm pretty sure our company uses a
Pix, and I've heard several people say since the company isn't on Vista,
they're not looking into the Vista VPN issue at all. It's just
disappointing and frustrating that MS wouldn't address this. There are a
lot of unhappy people out there because of this issue.
