I have the BFG 6800 GT OC and i have recently started using the windows vista
beta. The default drivers run most things ok but when it comes to games i
cant run any games in full screen without it messing up all the graphics.

I have Dled and tried to install 88.61_forceware_vista_x64_international.exe
from the nvidia site but it either does not support my card or does not
install correctly. When i install them the AERO interface stops working, none
of the video on any of my media players works and games wont even run at all.
And there is no nvidia control panel.

So i end up having to role back to the basic windows drivers every time.
However i do subscribe to a couple games that i have to run in full screen
like City of hero's and lineage 2 and i have not been able to play them on my
good computer since i upgraded my OS. I was wondering if you could provide me
with a source of drivers that may be able to help me with this problem or
maybe some solutions.

thanks for your time,
Frank M. Roberts

I have a AMD Athalon 64 x2 3800+ with a Gigabyte GA-K8NSC-939 MOBO.

I do have the latest bios for it. I did however have the option to Dl
drivers for the chipset and the onboard audio but they had no vista drivers
closest they had were windows XP 64. I am in the process of Dling them now
since i have read in a few places XP 64 drivers seem to work i some cases.

Ill hit you back as soon as i Install them. untill then if you have anymore
ideas let me know.

Try running WinUpdate in Vista it may find some new drivers from your
vendors. Other then that it appears that you may have to wait for updated
drvers Vista X64 drivers from NVIDIA.

after installing the chipset drivers i had a boot error and was forced to
"Boot with last known good config" after doing that i did not have any luck
with getting my games to run correctly.

I sent the same orginal msg to nvidia and they simply told me...

"Hello Frank,

Thank you for contacting NVIDIA Customer Care.

We're sorry, but we are not able to address Vista installation, usage and
troubleshooting questions via this forum. Beta software drivers for the
Microsoft Vista BETA Operating System are under development, qualification
testing and may include significant issues. Beta drivers posted do not carry
any warranties nor support services. Please register to be notified of
updates."

I was kinda disapointed since i would think they would be as intrested as i
am to get their drivers working for their products.

anywho if anyone has any other ideas send them my way.

thanks again

I had a similar problem with my Nvidia board.

It worked on first install of Vista. after downloading
the required drivers from Nvidia Web Site.

I reinstalled, downloading the Vista s. I have no longer
been able since to reset the resolution above 640x480.

Newer drivers were not available.

Anyone know ehre i might be able to find some 3rd party video drivers for
vista? I'm running outa other options.

Thanks,
Frank M Roberts

Those seem to be MoBo Drivers but i will try them this afternoon when i wake
up and see if they work better than the ones i had Dled before. these also
seem to be teh same drivers that i Dled off the nvidia site but not in exe
format so it might work better this way.

thanks for looking into it for me and i will post an update here as soon as
i install them.

Thanks again,
Frank M Roberts

I had the same problem I have the BFG6800OC. What I found out the problem
was my Monitor driver. When I loaded the drivers the OS and card had no
idea what monitor I had any more so it loaded a safe default. Try to go
through and load a driver for your monitor and you should be set.

This is great news! Well kinda i have to find vista drivers for my monitor
"Proview 986N" now and i did not see any one the proview website.

I have emailed them for a vista or maybe even a windows Xp 64 bit one.

Everything else you said seems to be correct though it is loading a generic
monitor driver and you could verry well be correct.

I tried to load the basic drivers but it errors out when installing, im
assuming it is because they are 98-xp drivers

Well wish me luck!

Monitors do not have drivers per say they have parameters which define their
couple of basic characteristics to the windows drivers and which they give
to Microself for inclusion in what I believe is called a monitor Inf file
( If Windows does not receive the make/model of your monitor from the
monitor when it starts up it does not know what resolutions are legitmate
even if it has the correct data in its monitor inf file.
You should be able with the Nvidia drivers to go into advanced mode and show
all modes and pick the native resolution of your monitor such as
1064x768@60Hz etc.
