VISTA USER'S MANUAL?

Where is Vista's User's Manual? Does it have one? I purchased my retail Vista
Home Premium here in Manila Philippines (manufactured in Singapore) - does it
really ONLY have the DVD, a small booklet quick start, and a coupon for
CD/64ver order? Is this also what is in the package/box in the US retail
version? Where can I find the official user's guide? After all the investment
shouldn't we have one? Is it a soft copy somewhere on the DVD or in the
Windows directory, or online? Or (bad news) should we purchase one?
 
Vista doesn't come with a users manual, unfortunately. There are a few sites
that can show you some of the basics, though.

For a good manual (but, you would have to buy it), check out "Introducing
Windows Vista" from Microsoft Press. It's just a basic manual disguised as a
book. I also have other user's manuals pretending to be books: Windows Vista
Bible....

Think on line or on the dvd, money is a huge concern when everyone and
his brother wants a book and then it must come in 50 gillion different
languages?

You can also use the Vista Online Help since it organized like a User's
Manual. Just open up the different "chapters" from the Help Index.
 
Unfortunately Dino Vista doesn't have a user manual, although the online
help files (help and support option on the start menu) are quite
comprehensive. An alternative is to get yourself a book on Windows Vista:

And HOW, may I ask, does one proceed in OPENING these things, once
downloaded? I downloaded both, but for the life of me I can't get
anything but the XML gibberish on the screen. I copied them to an
unzipped folder, then tried double-clicking each with XP and Vista
(Business) with no luck. I'm no computer novice but this "comprehensive
guide" needs a comprehensive explanition of how the ordinary experienced
tech-savvy person might obtain the great wisdom allegedly within this
fine piece of work. :-;

Try in Word or Notepad.

Notepad won't work and double-clicking in either XP or Vista doesn't
work either. I was able to get it open by bring up Word 2007 and then
opening the unzipped DOCX format file. After that I saved it in Word
'97 - 2003 format, and can access it easily with Word 2002 under XP. I
never was able to get the XML formatted version to open. From what I've
seen so far though it's a 62 meg advertisement for Vista with little of
value. :-( YMMV
 
The link takes you to the Windows Vista product Guide. This is ideal for
people 'selling' Vista who need to know what features to 'push' but,
frankly, is not much use as user guide.
