Vista Ultimate & Outlook 2000

We just purchased computer yesterday. It had Vista Home and we upgraded to
Vista Ultimate. We are able to receive mail, but not send mail. "Unable to
find WAB DLL" and also "Unable to update free/busy data. When I attempted to
check for fix it told me to rename the file WAB DLL and reinstall Outlook
2000, however, the only installations I could find were for previous versions
of Windows. Thanks for any help you can provide.
 
Thank you. I moved him to Windows Mail and am now able to send/receive. You

This is sad. I was hoping to use Office 2000 in Vista, but I ran into this
WAB.dll error as well.

I really don't want to plunk down $$ for the upgrade to Office 2007 since
2000 works just fine. Any other issues with office 2000 that you know of
other than outlook?

I could live with using windows mail and office 2000 for Word, Excel and PP.
 
I just got a new Dell with Vista and installed Office 2000 Small Business
then transferred files from my old PC. Everything works but Outlook. I get
the same thing as everyone else about the WAB DLL. I tried renaming the file
extension to "OLD" as suggested but no success. I get "Destination folder
access denied" and "You need permission to perform this action". Can someone
please give me permission so I can see if this fix works?
 
I have exactly the same problem rich. This is annoying. I also looked at
office 2007, and am not willing to spend the money after just purchasing a
new computer and Vista and a router and new cables, and new speakers and a
recent printer purchase. Also, the Office 2007 versions seem to include
Outlook or MS Access, but not both.
How do I disable microsoft mail as the default mail client? Maybe that is
part of the problem with outlook.
