In other words, it's total unadulterated bullshit. OEM is the SAME as
retail except for Microsoft support. PERIOD.

I really wish people would take a moment and read the EULA for both
versions before they post a bunch of bullshit to scare people away
from the OEM version. If someone needs or requires a lot of Microsoft
$support, in other words, a total nitwit with a lot of cash, they
should buy the retail version with the pretty plastic case.

I'll keep my OEM's from Windows95 on up to Vista and make my India
calls whenever I change out a piece of hardware.

OEM has EVERYTHING the retail version has, sans pretty useless plastic
box.

Typically OEM versions only allow clean installs, not upgrades, is that true
with Vista?

I'm not aware of this being an issue. I know I have a retail and an OEM
Dell installation on my home machines and they both get extras when they
come out.

well from what im aware of, for retail copy main support is with MS and for
OEM [Original Equipment Manufacturer] main support is with the computer
manufacturer since they purchase the license from MS and also they did some
modifications changes to the software for it to run on there machine.
