I'm running a DFI LanParty NF4 SLI DR motherboard and make use of the onboard
audio provided by the NVIDIA nForce 4 chipset.
I've installed every build of Vista that I could get my hands on over the
last couple of months. Unfortunately they all gave me the same issue.
The sound quality degrades significantly with a crackling distortion. I
can't pinpoint what triggers the problem since it's happened in Windows Live
Messenger and almost always when running games.
One way to restore the sound is to change the "quality" level dropdown on
the audio adapter configuration. This however stops all playback as it
presumably resets the adapter.
I've tried various drivers designed for Vista (windows update, realtek etc)
with no success.
Is anyone else (with a similar setup) experiencing this issue?
