After you installed Vista with Boot Camp, did you run the Boot Camp
Assistant from within Vista? If not, you need to do this because this will
install the necessary drivers from Apple.

Actually, he needs to insert the Leopard dvd in Vista and let the drivers
installer run. It will autorun and install the video, sound, keyboard, and
the rest of the drivers. It isn't done from Boot Camp. About all that icon
is for is to set the default boot for the Mac itself.

The term "P.C." is a GENERIC term, meaning "ANY PERSONAL COMPUTER."

Maybe where you come from that's true but around here we still use the term PC
to specifically refer to an IBM-compatible computer and Mac to refer to anything
by Apple. Even though the Intel-based Macs have now destroyed the distinction,
the terminology will continue for a long time. Do you remember the mid-70's?
People still referred to memory as "core" even though magnetic cores hadn't been
used for years and never on micros. It took a long time for people to start calling
solid-state memory RAM.

Lighten up, guys! How about we just answer the OP's question?

If you want to start a new thread on this sidebar topic go for it.

Colin, I DID try to answer the OP's question. HE NEEDS to hear what I
wrote. MANY OTHERS also need to hear it, and take it to heart.
Especially Mr. Lake.

I hear you and agree with you that that's the way it SHOULD be. However,
that's not the way it IS around here. Again, I can only speak for this geographical
location where the Pentium 4 is state of the art and the average salary is 35K. I
don't pretend to speak for the whole country or even all of northern New York
State. I've never used an Apple of any sort so I don't really care about them one
way or the other, although it might be fun to run OSX on my IBM-Compatible PC
(how's THAT for being specific?)

Tom Lake

Uh ... min-70's ... not true. The Microdata 1600 mini-computer was using 12K
cores up until the 80's.

Donald, it is a bit arrongant to think anyone NEEDS to hear something. You
may feel a need to say something but that does not impose a need on the
hearer to attend to it.

IIRC, IBM expropriated the tag "PC" for branding but it was in general use
in the trade press for about five years before the 5150 launched. Folks
used to say that IBM was good at figuring out which way the parade was
headed and getting out front with the banner.

The term "P.C." is a GENERIC term, meaning "ANY PERSONAL COMPUTER."
The term "Apple Macintosh PC" is a SPECIFIC term, meaning EXPRESSLY,
"A PERSONAL COMPUTER branded and sold by Apple, Inc."
The Term "Acer PC" is a SPECIFIC term, meaning EXPRESSLY, "A PERSONAL
COMPUTER branded and sold by Acer, Inc."

EITHER of the above PCs can run the Windows OS as their exclusive OS.
EITHER of the above PCs can run the Linux OS as their exclusive OS.
EITHER of the above PCs can run the Macintosh OS as their exclusive
OS.

Why? BECAUSE THEY ARE "INTEL-BASED PCs".

Got it yet, guys?

An Acer may be able to run OS X... but not without some serious fiddling
around, above and beyond the effort involved with installing either
Windows or, say, Ubuntu, on that Acer PC. (To say nothing of the legal
issues of running OS X on non-Apple hw. But I'm not suggesting that
would, or even should, stop folks from running OS X on an Acer. Apple
has folks over a barrel and it just doesn't sit right with me.)

I get what you're saying... and I agree with what you say and I agree
with others who have suggested that the tone of what you're saying is an
issue.

Man, I'm just one agreeable guy tonight! LOL!

You're right...my "tone" is rather irritating, isn't it? Especially
to the ones my words hit closest to home.

Again, I will "tone" it down...

Your tone is like a walk in the park on a Sunday afternoon when compared
to some of the anti-Vista egomaniacal malcontents that post here on a
daily basis.

1) I am in NO way, either an "Anti-Microsoft egomaniacal malcontent",
or "an anti-Apple egomaniacal malcontent".
2) I am certainly not an "anti-Vista egomaniacal malcontent". I dig
Vista Ultimate, for sure.
3) I most certainly AM an "anti-MacOS malcontent". Get that CLEAR,
please. My dislike is the Macintosh OS, NOT the computer (if you can
tell the difference, you are further-along than the majority of Apple
owners.)
4) For SURE, I am a "PRO-CONSUMER malcontent", and will ALWAYS take
the side of the Consumer, whether an Apple consumer, or a Microsoft
consumer.

Other than hating OS X (but NOT APPLE COMPUTERS!!!) with a purple
passion, I am just another guy who likes computers, in general, and is
not afraid to say so.

Additionally, I am not particularly persuaded by anyone with letters
after his name, no matter how many letters there are. These things
mean absolutely nothing to me. Never have, and never will.

If this is a "bad" tone to take, that's just tough.
I've earned each and every one of my 62+ years.

I guess I'm just an old "curmudgeon" in a world full of young dolts.

Glad to see you held back on your opinions on this matter. LOL!

Needless to say, I hope, I was not inferring that you belonged to the EM
group here. Actually, that group is more prevalent in the general ng
than this ng, so that was a mis-step on my part.

Not sure why you hate OS X so much... there are surely things about it
that leave me less than enthused, and some things that I wish I could do
in Vista. I'm ambivalent about OS X at the moment... like I am about
most OS's...

Lang

The Mac fans are no worse than the anti-Vista trolls who hang out in these
ngs. I don't find the OS/X GUI quite as bland as you seem to. Besides, I
spend most of my time in my apps and don't even see the desktop stuff.
