In the help and support for finding computers on the network, it says that it
can take up to 15 minutes to find older computers on the network. I have
found this to be true, but I am wondering why this is and if there is
anything that I can do to make it faster (
or instant)?

To access another computer instantly, type the other computer's name
in the Start > Run or Start Search box in this format:

\\computer

You can also create a desktop shortcut to another computer, specifying
the target of the shortcut as "\\computer".
