I am not sure if I in the correct forum but I need some help to guide me please. Just over six months ago I treated myself to a brand new computer from Medion which has a 2.67gh Dual core processor and 500g hard drive running with Vista Home Premium. Initially I was pulling my hair out with the silly user accounts and every time you press a key there would be a little window saying you don't have permission. Plus having to provide a name for a machine and then select a picture to associate it with. This was all a far cry from my other machine that I built and installed XP without any effort.
Since having this machine I am far from happy with it and recently it has developed a situation with software not operating, although the blue screen may not be there program not responding certainly is there. This problem takes a number of reboots going through the safe mode etc. and eventually will run your programs.
The spec on this machine is quite high however the speed that is achieved is not complementary with the spec and is very disappointing. Sorry to rabbit on a bit.
What I would like to do is to reformat the hard drive into a number of partitions and instead of using Vista I am looking at installing XP and also having a dual boot to enable me to install and run Linux as an option from a front end menu. At least I have given Vista a try.
Any help or guidance is very much appreciated.
