Vista timed shutdown

Does anyone know if it is possible to get Vista to shutdown automatically
after a scheduled TV recording in Media Center has finished? I often record
programmes late in the evening and would like the luxury of going to bed
without having to wait for the recording to stop, selfish I know....
I tinkered with setting a task schedule with no luck, probably missed a
step. I have power options set to hibernate, (sleep doesn't work on my
motherboard), but background tasks seem to interfere. Any ideas? In this era
of power saving we have all supposedly entered I would have hoped Microsoft
would have made this an obvious step.

There are a lot of external tools that can do that for you.

Indications to shutdown can be set and can vary from cpu usage to timed
shutdowns. Give some tools a try and see what you like best.
I mostly use timed shutdown due to the fact I know how long a recording
lasts or when it is finished.
