I am running Vista Ultimate 32bit - after installing SP2 my 15 in 1 card
reader stopped working. Its drives do not appear in my computer. If I run
disk management it can see the slots but can't allocate them a letter. If I
look in hardware devices there is a list of storage volumes that can't start
(code 10). If I boot the computer with a card in the slot, the slot the card
is in shows up but none of the others do. If I uninstall SP2 all is well and
the slots appear again.

Any ideas?

Did you install SP2 with the card reader plugged in ?

Yes - I had no choice as its one built into my computer rather than one
attached via a USB lead

I had the same thing happen too me, with my HP PAVILION DV7 NOTEBOOK, went
to the HP website and updated my bios and it fixed the problem, I am running
Windows home premium

The answer was to update my copy of Acronis True Image Home 2009 to the
latest version and it all works fine again!
