Vista SP1 "broke" my bluetooth

After installing SP1 for vista last night, I now notice that my bluetooth
icon no longer displays in my taskbar and I am not able to see any of my
current devices in the Bluetooth window from the control panel.

All of the previously installed devices work (e.g. PDA, Mouse, etc.), but I
can't add new devices.

Any suggestions?

FYI: This problem was the reason why I uninstalled the SP1 beta several
months ago and I assumed it was a beta glitch.

Have you reinstalled the drivers? A few drivers require reinstallation
following upgrade to SP1.

Driver reinstallation did nothing :(

I'm puzzled at the fact that my previous BT devices work, but I can't add a
new one (or display a list of installed devices).

Well... now things have gone from bad to worse...

I had reset my mouse and now it won't work at all... :(

Of course rolling back the SP1 will get bluetooth to work, but I would rather
have a solution moving forward.

As an update, I have tried using a usb bluetooth dongle and I get the same
results.

I'm convinced it's a Vista issue, but should there be an issue on a popular
Dell laptop like this? :(

From what I've noticed in less than 24 hours - file transfers are much more
acceptable than pre-SP1 and my laptop now resumes from sleep mode properly.

Is SP1 doing something for you that previous to SP1 you could not do?

Interesting thread. Thanks for that info.

I ended up reverting back to pre-SP1 and all my problems have been solved -
my BT works perfectly and I now have my Aero back.

I guess that I'll have to wait for more driver updates before I attempt this
again. Knowing the speed at which Dell updates their drivers, it might be a
long wait :(
