Vista Sound Issue

Ok, this sounds nuts but....

The sound card keeps getting turned off In My Vista Ultimate machine.

By turned off I mean that if the machine is idle for a few seconds you can
hear a little "tick" from the speakers.
The same tick you hear when you boot the system, when the drivers get loaded
and the sound card is initialized.

When something happens that requires a sound to play, you hear a little
"tick" and then the sound plays.
Then a few seconds later another "tick" as the sound shuts down again.

Driving me nuts and I can find no setting to make it stop.

Any Ideas?

Right-click on Computer and choose Manage. Under Services, are Windows
Audio and Windows Audio Endpoint Builder set to Automatic?

Yes they are.

Thanks though.

Did you check and see if you installed the audio drivers for your card
or motherboard?
