I put the pc to sleep and it wakes again within a few minutes. Any
suggestions?

Do you have a wireless mouse? Try unplugging
your USB devices one by one, put the computer
to sleep after you unplug one. If it stays asleep,
then you'll know. Have you gone into Device Manager
and looked at your USB devices, specifically, the
Power Management tab?

Do you have the latest drivers for any USB devices
you may be using?

Have you installed this update? It might help.

Reliability update for the USB stack in Windows Vista

The mouse is "wired" to the p.c. I have also tried everything with the power
options. I'll try disconnecting all the USB devices and see if that works.
Thanks for the advise.

Be sure to post back if you fix it.
Many times, users come here for suggestions or
answers and never report if they found a solution-
that information might be helpful to someone else.

Good luck.

Take care,

Michael

Same problem here, I've unplugged all USB devices yet vista reports that the
USB root hub has woken up the computer as soon as I shut it down, I made
sure that all USB devices and root hubs are not allowed to wake up the
computer but they continue to do so anyway.

You're welcome, Nick.
That's good to know. Thank you, for posting back.

I am haveing this problem too. Is there a fix i have the update and i
do not know how to see can some one tell me?

Michael,
The problem was a setting on the network adapter that allowed it to wake
the system. I had to go to the device manager and unclick the option that
allowed the adaptert to wake the system.

That's an excellent reminder as one of the things to check
when users are having the same problem that you had. I
forget to mention that sometimes while helping folks troubleshoot
this issue. Thanks for posting back. Glad you go it figured out.

Take care,

Michael
