Vista Setup Choice clean or upgrade

From disk I'm given one choice to load Vista clean. Alternatively, I could
load Vista from within Win XP operating sys as an upgrade. I'd like to know
is there any benefit to one approach over another. (I realize you've got to
reload all your software and files). Thanks for your help

Please note that BETA 2 means that Vista is still in a stage of development
and there is no guarantee that everything will work after upgrading. If you
treasure your data, I would preferrably do a clean install on a logical
partition.
