OK I have heard that Vista SP2 is in the early stages. How far along is it?
What are the estimated release dates? What are the details?

There have been so many updates since SP1 and plenty of reports on the
internet of this so you would expect it to be in the lines...
 
Hi,

What you heard is basically correct, it is in the *very* early stages. Any
estimate in release date is likely to be inaccurate, but probably in the
latter half of 2009. No details are publicly available at this time as it is
far from being set.

Any details or estimates of release dates you got would be nothing more than
guesses at this stage. Since guesses often turn out to be wrong, putting any
credence in what you hear would be foolhardy.
 
SP2 is in its early stages and beta testers are testing it now. As for a
possible release date that, currently, is anyone's guess.

The speculations I have heard put it around second half of 2009, but as with
any beta its a moving target that will be subject to change.

Vista SP2 will be released before Windows 7 is released. that's the best MS
can do at this time.
