I have built a new pc, made up of the follwowing components:
1. Asus P5WDH Deluxe Motherboard
2. Intel E 6400 dual processor
3. 2 GB memory-OCZ
4. Visiontek 512MB Radeon X1300 Video board
5. ATI TV Wonder 650 Pro HDTV board.
6. Two NEC DVD writeable drives.
7. 2 WD 250GB SATA drives.

The hard drives are setup as a raid 0 config utilizing the intel raid
controller on the motherboard. The system works fine with Windows XP pro,
however when I try installing Vista RTM it appears to copies files initially
but then the next stage of installation, of the program installing the copied
files, the display goes dim, and the system locksup, in which there is no
cotinuation of installation.

I have tried a clean install, and an upgrade to winxp pro. The same problem
occurs.

If I remove the TV wonder card then vista will load. There are still many
drivers missing for the motherboards full compatibility with vista. ATI had
been contacted and they had told me as does the advertisement on the TV
Wonder board that the product is compatible with Vista. They told me that at
this point they are not supporting vista, and it does not sound that they
want to discuss any problems that occur with it. I am having a hard time
with this, knowing that this software is about to be released. They told me
it was a microsoft issue. Up to now, I was not sure how to contact microsoft
regarding this issue. Hopefully they can help. It does not appear to be a
driver issue that has to be installed rather an installation problem, when
vista sees the TV Wonder 650 pro board, the same goes for the HDTV Wonder
board, which I had purchased initially it does the same thing.

The bottom line is that vista will not install with a HDTV board in the
system. Any recommendations???

Providing proper drivers is the card maker's responsibility. They fobbed you
off. They claim not to be supporting Vista, yet they claim their card is
compatible with Vista? Any inconsistency there that gets your attention?
I'm also a bit confused by your comment that it's not a driver issue, as the
OS communicates with the peripheral through the drivers.

My ASUS P5WD2-E did the same thing with the HDTV Wonder card. Another
newsgroup message implies it is certain motherboards that have this problem
with the HDTV wonder. I bought a USB HD tuner for the P5WD2-E and stuck the
HDTV wonder in another (ASUS MB) computer....have not tried Vista there yet.

It is also possible that your MOBO may need a BIOS update in order for Vista
to install with the board install.
By the time of the retail release I expect that ATI will have provided new
drivers to MS and that MS will have them available during the check for
updates phase during the install process which would allow the install to
complete normally.

Just a few notes as to some of the replies that I have recieved. I had
installed the latest bios update 1602, and this still does not allow vista to
install with the tv wonder 650 board. I have also tried installing minimal
devies as you described, and then installed the tv wonder 650, when I
rebooted the video was disabled as you experienced. I would say that you
should not have to go through all this trouble to install the new vista RTM
OS utilizing this card, especially since it is stated that it is compatible
with Vista. I had also run the compatiblility test, and it passed.

Just because it is compatibeable does not meant that ATI has released
drivers for it yet that will work. Hopefully it means that they will
release drivers that work before the retail release in January.
