Vista Restarts

I have a relatively new Dell PC with Vista Business. Once a day, every day,
between the hours of 9:30 AM and 11:00 AM the PC will restart by itself.
Initially I thought it might have something to do with downloading and
installing updates automatically though I changed my Microsoft auto updating
to night time hours without having any affect. My anti-virus is not updating
when this happens though I don't know if maybe some other app is updating in
the background. Reading other posts suggesting overheating or a harware
issue, my fan is working and the restart only happens once a day about the
same time so I'm doubting it is hardware. When my PC restarts it will reopen
any app I had open and also web bowsers that may have been open but does not
go the the specific web site. Any thoughts or suggestions???

You can turn on auditing on Vista, in particular, *process and program
tracking*, which will dump the information to the event logs so you can look
at the events with the Event viewer, looking at when programs are starting
and stopping. It will show you what programs are running on the machine by
date and time. Maybe, you'll see a pattern of events.

You can use Google and learn how to enable the auditing features that are a
part of all NT based O/S(s) like Win NT 4.0, Win 2k, XP or Vista.
 
Thanks Marry and Mr. Arnold for the suggestions. Not a hibernation problem
though. I'll try the Event Viewer to see if i can find an offender or a
pattern.
