Vista Reads a Bad CD-R Nicely!

RC1 - 5728. Tryed to access an old backup CD-R that is bad and Vista read it
just fine! The same disk will not read on Windows XP or with Roxio. I was
able to rescue all the data without having to use rescue software.

That is interesting to know, thankyou. I wonder what they can do where
others failed. I always thought a bad disc was a bad disc.

Hi,

Not sure exactly what is the underlying cause, but from what I've seen
(going back to very early builds) there is a higher fault tolerance in Vista
than XP. This gives it some ability to read data from corrupt media better
than previous win-versions.
