Vista (re)Activation Overseas

My laptop (a MacBook Pro) was recently stolen, and I am in the process of
installing all of the software again. I am unable to activate my copy of
Windows Vista Business via the automatic activation service, because it has
already been activated on the stolen laptop. Normally, I would use the phone
service to reactivate (as I have done once before when I upgraded my hard
drive), but I am studying abroad (in France) at the moment. The phone
activation service here is completely in French, and I haven't been able to
make it through the process yet (my language skills aren't quite there yet).
Also, I tried calling the US toll-free number via a calling card and was
informed that hefty fees would be incured.

Is there a number I can call from France that would let me reactivate my
Vista in English? If not, is my only option to deal with the fees of calling
the US toll-free number?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A better option may be to find a French speaker to help you.
Otherwise the expensive option may be it.

This post is a bit confusing for me.

Which language do you use in Vista?

1. Click on the Start button and in the Start Search box type in: slui.exe
4
2. Press the Enter key on your keyboard.
3. Select your Country.
4. Follow the instructions for phone activation.
5. Once completed, restart your computer.

If you hold for live person, explain the situation to them.

Have you tried calling and waiting until the machine gets through and a
live person comes on the line? Try that and keep repeating "English" and
maybe someone in the room in Morocco will know how to speak English and
help you. Either that or get someone French to speak for you.

It's these kinds of situations that prove that activation only
inconveniences paying customers a lot more than the "painless six
minutes" the MVP fanboys keep saying it will take.

How would you know? You're nothing but a 'free-loader'...a linux lovin
lying troll. You don't even have Vista installed so just STFU ad go on
over to your open sores chapel and kiss RS's hairy arse as required on a
daily basis.

Know what (this should be good).

And what are you doing, writing the book How to Win Friends and
Influence People?

I did but it was so crappy I uninstalled it.

No, Frank, again, Ubuntu doesn't require activation or becoming genuine
like the Vista virus does. You're the one who has to kiss Redmond's
collective asses every time you install XP or Vista, not me.

Alias, not expecting Frank to understand.

Sorry, but you cannot reuse or reinstall your Windows Vista
license on a different computer unless it is removed from
the stolen computer. Since you cannot do this, consider
the license stolen and not reusable.

More lies! You've never had Vista installed on any computer that you've
owned. Just admit it and stop the lying.

Throw your faults at me, Frank, I'm used to it. What you don't realize
is how much of a fool it makes you look but go for it and you will, you

Not a lie. Live with it.

Even though you paid for it, you still have to ask Redmond to use it.
With Linux I don't have to ask anyone. Too complicated for you?

You're the biggest liar on this newsgroup, bar none.
