I have an OEM Vista Premium, I have just today "upgraded" my CPU & took the opportunity to add a little more ram ... everything was fine, booted no problem, until I updated the Computer performance Basic Score ... it then told me I needed to re-activate Vista.
Do NOT try using the on-line method but opt instead to contact MS by phone ... free 0800 # easy enough ... I am now 'playin' on my new Dual-Core system ... the memory upgrade paid no part in the reactivation, just mearley replacing the CPU with another different one caused me to reactivate.
Just remember ... this is the only PC that is runing this copy of Vista, you made the change, they will give you a new activation number.
No need to reboot.
