Hey,

Well on one of my pretty good laptops I use now and again I have 2 HDDs, one
for data and one for programs/games etc...

Has anyone installed RC1 on a laptop AND liked how it ran? - no slow down
often and a good OS to play the odd HL2?

Cheers,
Marcus

I run Vista on Acer laptop with no problems. Obviously it depends on the
specs.
80Gb hard drive, 1.5ghz celeron mobile, 128mb integrated graphics, etc. Not
sure about running games on it though I have not tried.

Hi, Thanks Beck - your system sounds very similar to my notebook I am
thinking of upgrading lol :-P thanks hun! xxx

Ran various flavors on two Dell laptops; D620 512MB RAM, 60GB hd, 64MB shared
vid RAM and a D820 2GB RAM, 80GB hd, 128 shared vid RAM. Could get Aero
working on the D620 but not play videos with Aero enabled (didn't test
whether disabling Aero would allow video playback). The D620 has a wireless
NIC, which worked great in some builds and less great in other builds.

The D820 with more RAM could support more apps simultaneously, but I have to
admit, with a light load, one or two apps and IE running, the D620 with 512MB
RAM ran fine, even speedy.

It's all about drivers. I think... meaning that's my opinion. If there are
decent drivers for your hw, you're good to go. If not, your OBE will probably
not be as fine as you'd desire.

Forgot to mention it has 1Gb ram. The laptop originally came with 512mb.
It did run with 512mb, but obviously the more the better.

I put it on a HP Pailion zv6000
Used 64 Bit version
System has 1.25G ram, 40G HD
Ran Arieo no problem
no games played (was never a gaming system)
WiFI Worked out the box, along with bluetooth USB key
Never got my sound to work though.

I’m running Vista on my Dell Inspiron laptop.
1.6 GHz processor,
2 gig of ram, came with 512 I upgraded to 2,
100 MB hard drive.

Vista runs fine, faster than XP was, but since I have the Intel 915 video
chip I cannot run aero glass. The only game I play is the Sims 2. It plays
fine except I cannot run all the graphics options because of my limited video
chip.

I had some hand surgery Monday so I used the Vista voice recognition
software to type this note. It works pretty well and of course the more
training you give it the better it works.
