Vista RC1 hangs when opening a folder containing many AVI/MPG file

100% repeatable, if I open any folder that has more than 10-20 avi or mpg
files, vista hangs with the hard drive light on.

I suspect it's STUPIDLY trying to open each file to display a cute little
picture.
This makes working with it essentially impossible.
Almost a terabyte of video here, and if I try to touch it with vista's
explorer, it hangs.
Lovely.

I suspect one of them is corrupt. I've seen the same problem when trying to
looking at a CD's containing AVI's, if the CD has a CRC error on one of them.
It completely hangs Vista, requiring a power off!

But what can we DO about it? There may well be corrupt files, but that's a
pretty poor excuse for not letting me maintain the folder.

I noticed this problem as well. For me it turned out to be a messed up
FFDShow. After uninstalling all video codecs, I could load directories like
that with no problem, although the thumbnail showed the default movie icon. I
went out and got updated versions of all the codecs I normally have
installed, and now everything is working fine.

I am on Vista RC1.
