I haven't asked this question before, but I've asked a similar question.
When the public beta comes out, will there be a time limit that you can get
it or will it be out for a long time? Thanks.

That hasn't been decided as of yet by MS. My guess would be, it would be
avail till the final release is avail, but I could be wrong.

Hi,

There's nothing official yet, but the objective of a public beta is to get
as much exposure as possible. I would think it's safe to say that
availability will likely be for an extended period, probably shut down
shortly prior to the "gold" release similar to the XP public beta.

As far as functioning, it will be timebombed. The date the software is
supposed to stop functioning will be given in System Properties.

The license will expire with the release to manufacturing of the final
version.

I suspect it will have a time bomb, since it is pre-released software which
normally has such technology implemented, it will be for a long time though,
usually a year.

It is only 180 days
Then in the last 15 days it will tell you each and every day untill the last
15 days are up.
Then no go.
If you upgrade before the 15 days no problem, even within the last 5 days
but after that no go.

Tony

It is a year????
Not by what I see.
The betas I have are only good until the next release is out.

Hmm... my production machine expires on 1st June 2007... not much
difference, but it does.

Windows Vista Beta 2 lasts a year - but it does vary slightly (don't really
know why but it does).

My question was mainly about a time limit in which you can still download
the public beta once it releases. Sorry if I didn't make that clear.

Yeh - I was in London that day so I had to remote desktop in to download it,
was down at Microsoft until the next day so couldn't install it :o(
