I have two ethernet hardwired network printers on my home net.
Why do the IP adresses change and what can I do to to prevent this or at
least find an easy way to fix it when it does.
This is not an user freindly ergonomic situation MS.

You have to read the printer instruction manual.
Older printers in particular that have built in ethernet ports assign their
own address within a specified range, which may not coincide with what your
router wants to supply. You may be allowed to choose a number within the
range but you cannot change the range. You also need to find out how the
printer names itself to the network, which is not always obvious from the
instructions. You may have to lock the printer down to that one address or
it may change in the way you describe.
You have to manually configure every computer on the network to the name and
address of the printer--the printer wizard will not see the printer although
it is functioning properly.

It's probably being assigned different addresses by the router. Go in
the router and have it assign a fixed addresses to these devices.

Set them to use Static IP addresses.

My guess: the printers are being assigned addresses via DHCP - change
that to static IP in the setup. Not turning them off will help.

Stop using DHCP assigned IPs for your static devices (like printers)... Yes,
I know - macs allow this to happen *generally* silently and without
complaint (believe me, complaints happen) - but even if your home was all
macs (obviously is not) you woiuld be wiser to set devices like printers and
NAS devices with STATIC IPs (IPs that do not change) rather than letting
them grab the first available at startup.

You assign static IP(s) to the printers.
