There was "Vista obsessive foreplay" build. Very exclusive and tons of
functionality changes beyond the wallpaper, icons, and fit and finish bugs
so minor you'd need an electron microscope to see them. But it was way cool
to hate that "Vista obsessive foreplay" build stamp on your lower right
screen and when you threw winver into the run box.

5840 is not a valid rtm or even pre rtm someone made it and then etc meaning
they made a old version and telling people its 5840 when its not.

According to Paul Thorutt's website, 5840 was an MS "internal" "fixed" pre
RTM build only. The more important question is when do MSDN OP Sys
subscribers get access to RTM? Not the exact date, but in theory do we get
download and new product key access when it is released to manufacturers
immediately, or do we havbe to wait for some other timeframe.

5840 was leaked from China. I don't know if this is a TAP build or how the
Chinese got a hold of it.

some website paul ro another said there isa 5840 out there that not 5840
just people renaming the build why or how I dont have a clue so be careful
just wait for the official microsoft download if it comes out.

1) You won't get download access to RTM until they're ready to sell it if
it's sold on line. Don't know about that and really don't care. Which is
why I think it's a bit comical that all this obsession of the date is going
on.

2) Enterprises will get it first, but it's not going to be available to the
general public most probably until some time in Dec/January unless the
thirst for money that drives the OEM named partners and Softie Soft
overcomes them and they decide to put it on sale a bit earlier.

3) News Flash--Aside from "fit and finish" gui changes, icons added, a wall
paper addition, and really minor functionality changes and the upgrade from
XP bug, there is not going to be very significant difference in RC2 and RTM.

Drew--

Help me with the concept. What in the world "official download when it comes
out" are you expecting or talking about." What RTMs YOU BUY--one way or the
other and if you're smart you'll demand an OS disc if you buy a new
computer. Dell claims they've changed their policy. MSFT has been the
force for years that didn't want people to have a reliable way to recover
unless they went out and bought a retail OS or Vista. Dell says they are
chainging their ways on their recent blog entry. If so good but MFST will
push on the other OEMs not to be helfpul to their customers in this way.
MSFT wants you to show them the money; it's all about what's good for MSFT
not what's good for the customer and the two are on very separate tracks.

The same way the Chinese and N Koreans got hold of the nuclear bomb--someone
leaked it to them or they paid for it.
