If you follow the instructions in my post 'Clean Install Windows Vista Using
Upgrade Media', also in this newsgroup (dated 9/21/2007), you should be able
to perform a clean install of Vista without all the bloatware associated
with some OEM installations. However, before you do this make sure that your
machine is actually capable of running Vista. Specifically, ensure that there
are drivers available for the hardware in your machine (check the
manufacturer's website). If there are drivers available, download them and
put them on a USB flash drive prior to installing Vista. You will then be
able to access the drivers both during setup and in Vista itself. Before you
do any of this, however, make sure that you can restore your machine to its
original condition in case of any problems.
