I'm in a fraternity, and we have a house-wide network. Except for myself and
my roommate, they all run XP. Those computers are all visible to each other,
but not to me. I can get to the internet through the network, but not see
any other computers, and neither can my roommate.

I'm running Vista Business.

Are they in the same workgroup? This search result may help,

Yes, same here!!

I upgraded one of my office PC's to Vista first to work out all the bugs,
and it doesn't see any of the other XP machines. Further they can see the
Vista PC, but can't connect. I can ping them all, so at least on the hardware
level I have connectivity. And yes, they're all in the same workgroup

I have full internet connectivity and I can login to the router just fine.
The only devices I can see are the router and the Vista PC.

Firewall is turned off and I have the Vista PC set to the private location.
Network discovery and LLTP are both enabled.

I did discover one setting that I haven't found any reference to. Right
clicking the router icon I have an option to enable/disable. It doesn't seem
to do anything, and there is no reference to it anywhere that I have found.

What do I check next?

Thanks for trying, but I've already done all those things. I disabled both
firewalls, sharing is set as described. All UDP and TCP ports are open.
Netowrk location is set to private also.

Everything is by the book and still no luck seeing any other machine from
Vista.

I'm having exactly the same problem so if you run up with a solution, please
give me a shout.

Gloria, is there a way to disable LLTD settings and connect vista with xp
only via traditional IP configuration?

Thanks folks

John
