Any ideas why that would be, anyone? I have set it to do so after 10 mins
and it never does. Using my own power profile based on performance with that
one change.

Hi,

Checked for a monitor.inf file from the manufacturer? Sometimes the basic
one in the OS doesn't do everything you want it to.

When I upgraded the OS, I originally had it go to the generic driver and had
to change back to the one I have for my monitor like I had before so yes I
have that. However, it is possible the driver I have isnt a happy little
Vista compatriot I suppose.

does it shut down if you try balanced or power saver plans.

Havent tried them. I assume that if it wont shut down under one plan, there
wont be any difference in any other because the monitor shutdown command is
the same in all cases. However, I may have come up with a solution now. I
have an ATI Radeon 9600 and I just found that www.ati.com have Vista
specific drivers not long released and am installing them at the moment.
Hoping that is the solution.

My recommendation is never assume, always be willing to try what someone has
posted.

Software isn't perfect and sometimes little things like this will fix it.
